        Chief Hair Donator

My name is Caleb Rosenfeld and I am a Sophomore at Princeton University. My mission is to encourage EVERYONE to grow out their hair to donate to people with cancer. I have been donating my hair since I was in 3rd grade. The way I see it, donating your hair is a straightforward act of kindness where you can truly and literally give a piece of yourself to someone who really needs it. People with cancer deal with so much on the inside and when you donate your hair, you have an opportunity to help them feel a little more like themselves on the outside!

You may be surprised to know that it can take minimally 10 donated ponytails to make just one wig, and that's only the first part. After all the hair is collected, a wig can take 6 months to complete and is often prohibitively expensive. Over the years, I have partnered with several amazing organizations that make wigs and distribute them at absolutely no charge. But they need your help -- they need your hair! That's where Cutting it With Caleb comes in - getting the word out about the importance of hair donation and collecting the hair needed to make these life-changing wigs.

During my younger years, I found it hard to find volunteer opportunities where kids were welcomed. To donate your hair, however, there are no age requirements, no socioeconomic barriers, and no special talents or skills required. Not even a global health crisis can stand in the way! My goal is to empower everyone - and especially children - to donate their hair, and literally and figuratively, give of themselves to someone who really needs it.

I'm 20 years old, and I just donated my hair for the 7th time. It continues to be among the most meaningful things I have ever done. Tell your friends, teachers, aunts, uncles, cousins… anyone. Let it GROW.

Please consider donating your hair - we can make a difference, one wig at a time.
